Spruce Hill Winery Opening January 23, 2026, in Gig Harbor

by | Jan 20, 2026

GIG HARBOR, Wash., January 19, 2026, Spruce Hill Winery will open its second tasting room on January 23, 2026, at 5229 Olympic Drive, Unit B, in Gig Harbor, across from Harbor Greens. The tasting room will be open Friday through Sunday afternoons and offers a relaxed, welcoming place to enjoy handcrafted Washington wines in a setting inspired by the Pacific Northwest.

Spruce Hill Winery is owned and operated by Mark and Jo Bader, who have built a loyal following through a hands-on approach to winemaking, a focus on expressive, fruit-forward wines, and a deep connection to Washington’s landscapes. That philosophy carries through to the Gig Harbor tasting room, which blends the feel of a neighborhood coffee shop with the relaxed sophistication of a winery, all grounded in the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

The space was designed with shared experiences in mind. A large community table anchors the room, encouraging guests to linger over a bottle and conversation. Throughout the tasting room, thoughtful details reflect the winery’s story, including cork integrated into the bar, a subtle reference to the natural cork closures used across Spruce Hill’s wines. Forest tones, mountain-inspired textures, soft lighting, and a custom mural, designed to bring the outdoors inside, complete the atmosphere.

Spruce Hill Winery began in Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood, where all of its wines are still produced today, before expanding south to Gig Harbor. Mark and Jo Bader remain deeply hands-on in every step of the winemaking process, from sourcing grapes in Eastern Washington to managing fermentation, blending, and bottling, ensuring each wine reflects their vision and craft.

“We’d been looking toward the South Sound for a long time,” said co-owner and winemaker Mark Bader. “After moving to Gig Harbor, it didn’t take long to realize this was where we wanted to be. It’s a place where people like to slow down, meet up, and spend time together. We wanted the tasting room to feel comfortable and unpretentious, somewhere you can drop in for a glass, learn a little about the wine if you want to, or just enjoy the moment.”

In partnership with the Peninsula Art League, the tasting room will feature a rotating selection of work by local artists, with new installations introduced monthly. Attentive guests may also notice small, playful details woven into the space, quiet references that reflect the character found on every Spruce Hill bottle and the winery’s belief that wine should feel approachable and enjoyable.

“Wine is meant to be shared,” said co-owner and assistant winemaker Jo Bader. “We love talking through our wines, how they’re made, and what we’re experimenting with, but we also want people to feel at ease. Whether someone wants a guided tasting or just a glass with friends, we want the experience to feel natural and personal.”

The Gig Harbor tasting room will offer wines by the glass, with crisp whites and rosés starting at $12 and bold reds at $18. Wine tasting flights, available for $20 per person, are curated into accessible themes such as Crisp and Fruity, Deconstructed GSM, and The Bold and the Beautiful. Guests can also Choose Your Own Adventure, a build-your-own flight featuring current releases.

Current releases range from $20 to $38 per bottle and showcase the winery’s range and style. Highlights include the 2024 Albariño ($24), a bright, coastal-leaning white that’s easy to enjoy and food-friendly, alongside Rhône-inspired reds such as Grenache ($34) and Mourvèdre ($32). Rainforest Red ($36), the winery’s flagship Bordeaux-style blend, stands out for its balance and versatility at the table.

A menu of small bites complements the wine program, including charcuterie boards with selected meats and local cheeses. WA rotating selection of local beer and non-alcoholic beverages is also available. The tasting room welcomes guests of all ages.

Spruce Hill Winery plans to host seasonal events, guided tastings, educational experiences, private gatherings, and a monthly artist reception tied to each new art installation.

Parking Tip: The neighboring business complex south of the tasting room is available for additional parking weekdays after 5 pm and on the weekends.

Hours: Fridays 3 pm – 7 pm, Saturdays Noon – 7 pm, Sundays Noon – 4 pm.
