In Preview: Vancouver Craft Beer Week

Vancouver Craft Beer Week 2014 is set to kick off its fifth year in style this Friday, May 30th with a party dedicated to what should be everyone’s favorite pastime – succumbing to the temptresses of ales and lagers.

This nine day event of bottled, canned and kegged goodness is bringing to its patrons more than 60 craft beers, nine signature events and 12 feature events that you’ll regret missing. The overarching theme of this weeklong affair is dedicated to hip-hop, which ensures to excite both hop and hip-hop lovers alike.

The VCBW Opening Night kickoff party, hosted by 102.7 The Peak, will be a marriage of malt and music with its featured DJs, hip-hop artists and 20 stars of the craft brewing industry. Other events include, but are not limited to, multiple beer tastings, a “Craft Beer Bingo,” a BBQ featuring rare beers, a brewing battle inspired by the classic rap battle, dinner parings, battles of beer cocktails and more. Be it you are in search of a relaxing night sipping on sudsy delicacies, an exciting evening dedicated to dancing with your “hoppy” partner, or would like to be entertained by the creative geniuses more commonly referred to as bartenders, VCBW 2014 is guaranteed to fill your desire. Megan Walsh is currently a senior at the University of Portland preparing to graduate in May with a degree in Organizational Communication and Business Administration.
