Madison Valley residents can expect a grocery store with fresh pantry staples, local products, quality ingredients and chef-quality meal kits
Answering the dreaded question of “What’s for dinner?” will become easier for Madison Valley residents when Kitchen & Market, a local grocery store and prepared meal provider, opens its fourth location, slated for March 2024. The store will be located at 2811 E. Madison St, the former location of the Village Mart, whose proprietors chose not to retire and not renew their lease this summer.
Kitchen & Market’s European-style corner grocery model offers meal kits, grab-and-go lunches, pantry staples, and produce. Founder and Chief Executive Officer Stephanie King noted her team will gain occupancy in November and will begin interior construction as soon as permitting is in place. King said the goal of her store environment is to evoke the feeling of walking into a warm yet aspirational home kitchen and pantry. Kitchen & Market’s design team includes Trove Interiors and Ripple Design Studio, with King Construction as the general contractor.
“This is our fourth location, and I am beyond thrilled that it is in Madison Valley,” said King. “In addition to brick-and-mortar stores, we provide free delivery service and Madison Valley has consistently been an area where we have frequent deliveries. Customers now have the choice between the convenience of delivery, and the option to easily visit the store in person.”
King said she will make interior updates, infusing Kitchen & Market’s signature black and white aesthetic, and the addition of updated fixtures and appliances throughout, and a merchandise mix that ranges from the everyday basics to tasty indulgences.
Kitchen & Market caters to all appetites. Along with pantry staples, such as bread and milk, customers will find iconic local labels such as Ethan Stowell Restaurants (ESR) pasta—Kitchen & Market is the exclusive grocer for ESR at Home products, Greek Yogurt, Armistice Coffee Roasters, Premier Catch, and other homegrown local brands. Its wide variety of grab-and-go, restaurant-quality meal options and chef-curated recipes make meal planning and entertaining easy.
Meal kits (prepared with generous portions) can be picked up in-store or locally delivered. Kitchen & Market provides meal kits that rotate based on seasonal offerings, grounded in the flavors and phases of the Pacific Northwest. Upcoming meal kit items offered throughout its existing Pike Place, Mercer Island and Medina locations include Chicken Stir-Fry ($45), Herb-Basted Bistro Bavette ($50), and Autumn Risotto ($40). Additional grab-and-go options include soups, sandwiches, desserts, smoothies, yogurt parfaits and other breakfast options.
Catering to all dietary needs, Kitchen & Market also provides meal kit options that are vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free. Prices range on average from $5 for side items to $65 for full dinner meals.
Updates will continue as store construction and inspections are near completion.
