With military memorabilia blanketing the walls and “American to the Core” proudly displayed, Julian Hard Cider raised glasses of red, white and blue ciders to support Veterans Village of San Diego on Memorial Day. The patriotic party launched the craft cidery’s Red, White and Blue campaign – a series of events around Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day that honor those who have served and support nonprofits devoted to local veterans.
According to Founder Paul Thomas, Julian Hard Cider has deep roots in patriotism; Thomas and Co-Owner, Keith Webb are Navy veterans and Sales Manager Brian Mayer served in the Air Force. This history gives Julian Hard Cider’s tagline, “American to the Core”, an intimate meaning to the local business.
“Over the past eight years, veterans have visited our tasting room and shared their stories almost every day, often leaving behind patches or challenge coins. We’re proud to support a community of veterans helping veterans,” says Thomas. “These men and women have dedicated their lives to our country – the least we can do is dedicate a day of business to their service.”
On Monday, May 29, crowds gathered at Julian Hard Cider’s tasting room and raised glasses of red, white and blue cider to toast the men and women of our armed forces. The featured cider blends include:
  • Cherry Bomb (Red): The perfect balance of tart and sweet, this fresh-pressed hard apple cider is blended with Montmorency Cherry juice – a favorite with pie makers.
  • Harvest Apple (White): The brilliant clarity of Harvest Apple cider is a virtue of its exceptional quality. Using only top-quality, hand-picked apples, this cider goes immediately from pressing to fermentation to maintain the nearly clear color.
  • Black & Blue (Blue): Blended with the juice from American-grown and sustainably farmed blackberries and blueberries.
Celebrating summer, cider and service, Julian Hard Cider plans to host Fourth of July and Labor Day celebrations at its tasting room on the famed Hwy 78 “Hops Highway” brewery corridor.
