Honeywood Winery BlackJack

by | Dec 29, 2015

Known as Oregon’s oldest winery, Salem-based Honeywood Winery—ironically not named after its founders Ron Honeyman and John Wood—has been producing wines “smooth as honey… aged in wood” since 1934. The winery’s meads have gained notability since then, with both the Oregon Mead Wine and Oregon Blackberry Mead earning gold and silver awards in the World Mead Challenge. Said meads, plus an array of wines and a cider, including apricot, rose, boysenberry, birthday cake, elderberry and other unconventionally flavored sippers have maintained Honeywood’s pioneering vibe.

Honeywood Winery BlackJack is a hard apple cider infused with blackberry juice for a smooth 11 percent ABV companion flaunting just the right amount of acidity on the palate. Berry aromas are the first on the tongue, reminiscent of a light fruit-forward wine, ending soft and tart in the style of a true cider made with apples from Washington and Oregon.
