Holiday Gift Guide 2015 Part One: Gifts Under $40

by | Dec 4, 2015

When people ask us for beverage-themed gift ideas, we never have a shortage of suggestions. So many makers are crafting so many great products these days, it’s not a stretch to say that you could probably find a perfect drink-related gift for every person on your list—whether they drink cocktails, coffee, beer, wine or even just water.

This year we came across such a wide range of unique giftables that we are splitting this gift guide into two parts. All of today’s picks are under $40, which means you can save up to shop next week’s guide, Gifts Worth the Splurge, as well. And don’t forget to check out this week’s Caffeination Cascadia, featuring five giftable coffee subscription services from around the Northwest. So many gifts, so little time. Happy shopping!

Skillet Bloody Mary Gift Set || If the very best Bloody Marys pack a punch, Skillet makes a Bloody Mary set to be reckoned with. Released this week, it includes a 34-ounce bottle of tailgate-ready mix, four ounces of the diner’s famous bacon jam, and plenty of bacon salt for rimming. Complete with a recipe book and instructions for bacon jam-infused vodka, the set comes in a stamped gift box. It’s currently available at all three Skillet locations in Seattle, and that gives you a perfect excuse to come by for dinner. || $28

Love Bottle || The best part of a gift is giving it—and, in this case, giving back. Love Bottle is all about making a difference, which they do by producing their reusable glass water bottles entirely in the United States, encouraging healthy living habits, and donating a dollar per bottle sold to one of three high-impact charities. || $25

Pok Pok Som Drinking Vinegars || These wholly unique cocktail and mocktail mixers feature flavors that range from apple to thai basil to pomegranate. Whether you splash a bit in soda water, or pair with something stronger in a one-of-a-kind cocktail, the vinegars are delectable. Mix and match 16-ounce full size bottles, or spring for the gift pack of five 4-ounce bottles. || $15/full size; $25/gift pack.

Viski Belmont Hammered Brass Coasters|| Backed by a thin layer of smooth black velvet, this glimmering golden set of four hammered brass coasters adds a touch of metallic warmth to any kitchen or living room. It makes an especially festive thank you or hostess gift around the holidays. || $38

Portland Bitters Project Toddy Kit || Cold-weather drinks are irrefutably in season. Give the gift of warming comfort cocktails with a toddy kit from startup small-batch producers Portland Bitters Project. Each kit includes a mug, recipe book, mulling spices, local raw honey and a dropper bottle of PBP’s Aromatic Bitters. || $30

Sip Northwest Annual Subscription || Yes, we know, we’re not the most unbiased source, but we wouldn’t recommend anything we don’t love ourselves. Our annual print subscription includes four beverage-centric issues featuring drinks, producers, food and travel across the Pacific Northwest. Issues arrive at subscribers’ homes quarterly, making this a gift that keeps on giving all year long. || $19
