Drifters: Rockwater Secret Cove Resort

by | Jul 30, 2014

Why go? Well, if the location “Sunshine Coast” wasn’t enough to woo you, I have two words that will: Tenthouse Suites. Rockwater Secret Cove Resort is definitive West Coast treehouse glamping at its finest. True to its name, this private coastal resort affords lucky guests the opportunity to sleep peacefully enveloped in an oceanfront arbutus forest—up above the beach and crashing waves—in a luxuriously outfitted safari-styled tent.

Elevated boardwalks lead you through the trees to your private Tenthouse, outfitted with king-size bed, hydro-therapy tub, rain forest shower, fireplace and radiant floor heating. Wrap around decks hold comfortable chaise chairs for communing with the birds in the branches around you while you take in the ocean views. Of course, if you want to get away and still be connected, the free high speed wifi and iPod dock will guarantee you’re able to.

If you can peel away from your secluded suite, be sure to visit the spa. In the summer months, treatments are held in a spa tent without walls, surrounded by the serenity of nature’s finest. Casual and seasonal dining is available all day in the main lodge’s restaurant, matched with a similarly unfussy and approachable wine list.

The Sunshine Coast is accessible by ferry or (highly recommended) floatplane only. Scheduled sailings and flights depart from Vancouver and Nanaimo daily.
