Drifters: Iron Springs Resort

by | Jan 1, 2014

The crashing sound of waves in the distance, the fragrant smell of cinnamon rolls baking in the oven, and scenic views of Washington’s coastline are just a few of the draws that make Iron Springs Resort a weekend-worthy getaway. Located in Copalis, Wash., Iron Springs Resort is a must for any beach lover—no matter the season.

Pulling up to the resort you are greeted instantaneously by breathtaking views of Washington’s coastline and the smell of salty ocean air—it’s like stepping into paradise before you even check-in.

Speaking of, check-in is at the general store, which is a simple name for what it really is. Loaded with all of the essentials you may have forgotten including gifts, food, a generous assortment of wine and more, the general store is more reminiscent of a gourmet food and gift shop. Need some late night entertainment? The general store also offers a wide selection of games, books and movies available for rent, free of charge. If you’re able to pry yourself away from the shelves of hand-crafted spreads and jams, artisan cheeses and more, you’ll be ready to head to your cabin.

Each cabin is slightly different, but all boast breathtaking views. Drop off your bags, grab a glass of wine, and get ready to enjoy the view. Whether you decide to decompress on the deck or cozy up next to the fire, you’ll find that the view is breathtaking no matter which vantage point you choose.

Outfitted with unique and charming decor, comfortable furnishings, and a fully functioning kitchen, each cabin comes with all the amenities you will need for a relaxing stay. I suggest loading up a cooler with groceries before you make it out to the coast, as dining and grocery options are limited. Although, you can always travel light and opt to fill up on fresh shellfish by participating in an Iron Springs’ guided clam dig. A true farm beach-to-table experience.

If you visit Iron Springs between the months of November and April, you’re one of the lucky ones. Take a leave of absence with Iron Springs’ “Sip & Storm” package. The enchanting package includes a bottle of Washington wine, Iron Springs’ cinnamon rolls, and, of course, scenic views of the stormy coastline. An ideal package for couples looking for a quiet and romantic getaway.

In the morning you can head to the general store where complimentary cinnamon rolls, coffee and mimosas are served. Stock up on refreshments then head to the beach for an invigorating stroll along the Washington coast.

With 24 unique cabins to choose from, with some accommodating groups as large as 10, Iron Springs Resort is perfect getaway for couples, families, or friends. And of course, dogs are always welcome. Enjoy lounging in the cabin, walking along the beach, or spending an afternoon hiking in the woods. Quietly nestled on the Washington coast, it’s no wonder this coastal resort has been a favorite vacation destination for more than 60 years.

Whether you stay for just a weekend or an entire week, Iron Springs Resort is a cozy retreat in a beautiful setting. You might not want to go home.
