Drifters: Hotel Max

by | Oct 15, 2014

Seattle is a mecca for photographers, musicians and artists of all types. Guitar-strumming, paintbrush-wielding visionaries flock to the Emerald City to manifest their destinies, one concert or gallery showing at a time. But, even if youre not a creative mastermind, you can pretend you are at Hotel Max.

Located in downtown Seattle, Hotel Max is a home away from home for musicians, as well as other creative types, and even the occasional wannabe. Sleek and hip, each floor and room at Hotel Max is embellished with innovative artwork from creative and talented names like Jackie Barnett, Junko Yamamoto and Pam Baker, just to name a few.

For the diehard groupie, Hotel Maxs Sub Pop floor is a real treat. Each of the 19 rooms on the Sub Pop floor have been transformed to make you feel as though youve just gone backstage. The floor, which features large-scale black and white images of iconic musicians, pays homage to Sub Pop, the label responsible for kickstarting Seattles 90s music surge with bands like Nirvana and Mudhoney. Each room on the Sub Pop floor is outfitted with a turntable and selection of label-curated vinyl records to spin while you sink into your bed or soak in the tub to set the mood, while posters of your favorite Sub Pop bands are splayed across each rooms chic and urban architecture to create the aesthetic.

Whats more, guests of Hotel Max neednt travel far for an artisan cocktail or bite to eat. Less than one year ago, James Beard Award-winning chef Jason Wilson and Portland restaurateur Kurt Huffman opened the popular (and delicious) Millers Guild. The restaurant features a variety of wood-fired foods from locally caught seafood to whole-animal butchery and other nibbles designed to sate more than just your appetite. To wash it all down, Millers Guild patrons can select from an extensive beer or wine list, opt for a specialty sipper like Scouts Honor (Four Roses Bourbon, Zirbenz Stone Pine Liqueur, maple syrup and smoked salt), or one of the Guilds other tempting cocktail concoctions.

And, whether living out your dreams of stardom or just enjoying the sights and sounds Seattle has to offer, you can rest easy knowing your four-legged friend is in good company, because Hotel Max is pet friendly so you’re able to enjoy your holidays with dogs.
