Celebrate the Harvest with RN74 and Sip Northwest

by | Oct 20, 2017

“Ask any sommelier who’s exciting in Washington right now and these talented winemakers are on short list,” says winemaker Jeff Lindsay-Thorsen of the three other winemakers joining him at RN74’s second annual Behind the Bottle Harvest Dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 25. The Seattle restaurant’s lead sommelier and winemaker of W.T. Vintners will be joined by fellow Woodinville, Washington, winemakers Michael Savage of Savage Grace Wines, Morgan Lee of Two Vintners Winery and Kevin White of Kevin White Winery for this rare dining experience.

“These are wines everybody should be drinking,” Lindsay-Thorsen says. “It is such an honor to pin down each of these winemakers one at a time for an event, but to cajole them all into the same room for dinner is so unique and extraordinary.”

In partnership with Sip Northwest magazine, the Harvest Dinner brings the compelling flavors of the Northwest’s fall bounty to the plate, expertly coursed and paired with the wines from four of the state’s top winemakers.

Highlighting the union of food and wine that RN74 marries on the daily, executive chef Thomas Griese’s menu for the evening was built around the tasting notes from each wine, complementing the flavor profiles of the bottlings. “It’s that time of year where you get to see all of the hard work of viticulture and enology, the time where they truly start to create ‘the magic,’” Griese says of the winemakers in attendance. “The menu is designed to embrace the harvest and get us ready for winter.”

For Lindsay-Thorsen, this dinner is an exclusive opportunity for diners to get a sneak peek at upcoming releases, library bottles and the next wave of wine from Washington. “These wineries are the drivers in a sea of change happening here,” he says. “Each winery has shown an unwavering eye on quality and is embracing Washington terroir and balance over excess technique, oak and ripeness that often shade Washington’s nuances. Moreover, each winery’s style is distinct, yet they all complement each other; this diversity is the new Washington.”

Join the four winemakers, RN74 and Sip Northwest in celebrating the 2017 Washington State wine harvest on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m. Seats are $105 per person, excluding tax and gratuity.
