Bull Run Cider Powerhouse Dry

by | Jun 24, 2014

Forest Grove, Ore., sits at the northwestern point of Willamette Valley—just 30 miles shy of Portland to the west, home to eight wineries and one proud cidery. Bull Run Cider, named for the watershed that supplies the city of Portland and its surrounding areas with pure, clean water, kicked off in 2009 with the same ideals—pure, clean, fresh-pressed ciders. Their flagship cider, named again in tribute to the Bull Run watershed and powerhouse, is the Powerhouse Dry that uses heirloom bittersweet and bittersharp cider apples. With a mantra based on pristine drink, this cider from Bull Run does not stray from its path of crisp, clean and pure aromatics and flavors. Tart red apple, Champagne-like yeasts, hazelnut and earth pop on the nose, while the apple rings true on the sparkling palate with moderate acid and a dry, firm finishing.
