Booze Races! Your Guide to a Summer of Booze Marathons

Bend Beer Chase—June 6, Bend, OR || Bar hopping + relay race, throw in a dash of scenic Central Oregon beauty, and you have the basic idea of the Bend Beer Chase. Split up into 12 legs, each leg ranging from 4-6 miles, with each leg spanning the distance between regional breweries. Teams can range from one to six members, depending on how crazy you want to get. The relay starts at Worthy Brewing in Bend, then heads to Wild Ride Brewing in Redmond, followed by a jaunt to Three Rivers Brewing in Sisters, before heading back to Bend. The final leg being called the Keg Leg, where all team members pile into a van and hop from brewery to brewery before ending at the Crux Fermentation Project for an evening of fun and festivities. || bendbeerchase.cascaderelays.com

Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon—Aug. 8, Yamhill County, OR || This 13.1-mile course runs through some of the most idyllic wine country in the country. The marathon can be run singularly, or split up into a two-part relay race. The day begins at Stoller Family Estates before going through four different AVAs. After you complete the course, you’ll find yourself in the town of Carlton for the awards show, and a music and wine festival. Idaho Wine Run—Aug. 15, Caldwell, Idaho || The Idaho Wine Run has a little something for every level of racers. With half-marathon, 10K or 5K options for runners, and wine sampling for supporters, there will be something for everyone to do. More than a dozen wineries are set to participate in tastings to be held in the scenic Ste. Chapelle winery, 30 miles west of Boise. Registration ranges from $30-$50, and includes a free wine glass, a day of wine tasting, and inclusion in your choice of races. || idahowinerun.net

Columbia Winery Charity Run & Walk—Aug. 15, Woodinville, WA || Put on by the Run for Children’s Guild, the Columbia Winery Charity Run & Walk benefits the Seattle Children’s Hospital. The course begins and ends at Columbia Winery’s Woodinville location, with the route circumnavigating the region. The 10K race, or 5K walk begins at 8:30am on Saturday, Aug. 15, ending at 11:30 a.m. and opening up to a day of wine tasting. Registration run from $30-$40, with team options available on request. Funding goal for the Run for Children’s Guild this year is $100,000 and remember, it’s for the kids! || runforchildrens.org

Eugene Brews Cruise 5K—Sept. 7, Eugene, OR || Take a tour of Eugene while supporting a good cause, coupled with beer of course. The Eugene Brews Cruise 5K, hosted at Hop Valley Brewing Company, goes to support the Head Start program of Lane County. The 3.1-mile course takes you on a loop through neighborhoods and park paths, ending where it began at Hop Valley Brewing. $25 entry fee, with awards going to the top three male and female runners and top three of each age group, with post race festivities to be hosted at Hop Valley Brewing. || level32racing.com

Kelowna Wine Country Half Marathon—Sept. 6 Kelowna, BC || Ever wanted the opportunity to take in British Columbia’s premiere wine scene? Well, now here’s your chance! The Kelowna Wine Country Half Marathon takes runners through the scenic landscape surrounding Lake Okanagan, from lakefront vistas to apple orchards and vineyards. The race ends with a music and wine festival featuring over a dozen of the regions best wineries. Individuals or teams are encouraged to register, with the cost ranging from $89-$325. Awards will be given out at a ceremony during the music and wine festival, with plenty of time after for a day of tasting. || destinationraces.com/runbc

North County Wine Run—Sept. 12, Ridgefield, WA || The fifth annual North County Wine Run returns to one of Washington’s up and coming wine regions, to highlight the beauty and splendor the region has to offer. Awards for this half marathon or 5K race includes wine and medals, but the atmosphere is far more casual than some, with only a 4-hour cap to complete the course. Registration costs between $40 and $65. After the race you enjoy a day of wine tasting, live music and food. ||  northcountywinerun.getboldevents.com
