Pursued by Bear Wines Celebrates with a Grand Opening April 14 – 16
WALLA WALLA, Wash., March 22, 2023 – Actor and Yakima-native Kyle MacLachlan, known for his iconic roles in such cult classics as Twin Peaks and Portlandia, has opened a new tasting room in Walla Walla for Pursued by Bear wines.
MacLachlan will welcome guests and sign bottles at the tasting room’s grand opening celebration April 14 – 16. Tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased via the winery’s website or directly from TOCK.
MacLachlan established Pursued by Bear in his home state of Washington in 2005. Acclaimed Walla Walla vintner Dan Wampfler joined as his winemaker in 2008. The winery’s name is a playful nod to MacLachlan’s theatrical career, borrowed from one of Shakespeare’s most famous stage directions in Act III, Scene 3 of The Winter’s Tale, “Exit, pursued by a bear.” The winery enjoys a loyal following for its Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and rosé.
“I grew up in Eastern Washington, not far from the vineyards where my grapes are grown today,” says MacLachlan. “My dad and I began exploring Washington wines in the late 1980s on my trips home to Yakima. I quickly developed an appreciation for Washington wines and the people who made them, and I knew I wanted to be part of this community when I made my first wine in 2005. Walla Walla has been my home base from the start, so when it came time to open a tasting room, this was the place it had to be.”
