There are a multitude of reasons why the eve of Thanksgiving makes for a great drinking holiday. First, you don’t have to worry about work the next day and second, you know for sure that a feast of carbs, protein and sweets to cure whatever ails you is in the near future. Whether you refer to this day as Blackout Wednesday or Drinksgiving, that doesn’t mean you have to hit the bars for a crazy night — instead embrace the unofficial holiday by visiting a few of your favorite breweries.

Doughnites

Lowercase Brewing | Seattle
Georgetown’s Lowercase Brewing continues its “Doughnites” series in cahoots with Side Hustle Doughnuts in a special pre-Thanksgiving themed night. Grab a beer with some friends and enjoy the savory selection of like a brie and fig, turkey and caramel apple pie flavors, all served on mini-doughnut sliders made from the brewery’s spent grains. Wash it all down with one of Lowercase’s tasty beers.

Thanksgiving Pre-Game Party

Look no further than this locally fueled pub which is throwing an excellent Thanksgiving eve party complete with turkey. More importantly though, this party is being sponsored by three West Coast powerhouse breweries — stop by for some pours from Spokane’s No-Li Brewhouse, Hop Valley Brewing Co. in Eugene, Oregon, and San Diego’s Saint Archer Brewing Co. Stuff yourself before you even get to the stuffing and throw back a couple of pints while you’re at it.

Brewvana Discover Tour

If you’re skipping out early from work on Wednesday and are looking for a little something different besides hanging out at a quality brewery then check out Brewvana’s Discover pFriem tour. The esteemed beer touring company will pick you up in downtown Portland and provide samples to make the drive to pFriem’s brewpub and production facility in Hood RIver go by that much faster. Once you arrive you’ll be treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility and can pick up some beer for the way home.

Thanksgiving Eve Ale Fest 

Second Profession Brewing | Portland
Second Profession knows it’s a hoppin’ night for bars but that beer drinkers should get their fair share too, which is why they are hosting an ale fest with their friends Baerlic Brewing, Laurelwood Brewing, Fire on the Mountain Brewing and Montavilla Brew Works. Each brewery is sending over a special festive beer for the occasion. Make sure you get there in time for a taste of Second Profession’s Dark Holiday saison and a barrel-aged winter ale from Laurelwood.

Beer Sampling Thanksgiving Event 

Crooked Fence Brewing | Boise, Idaho
Crooked Fence is bringing its beer to The Dry Creek Mercantile where folks will be able to sample brews and enjoy some food before heading back to their own kitchens. The brewery is also hosting its own Thanksgiving party but it’s always good to get a little sample in before you commit. Try the seasonal cranberry sour or go for something a bit darker with their 3 Picket Porter.
