A Delectable Taste of Washington – March 23rd and 24th

by | Mar 15, 2013

Taste Washington takes place at CenturyLink Field Event Center on March 23rd and 24th.

If Washington had just one taste, what would it be? Hot strong coffee, maybe. Or juicy gala apples. Perhaps the dark fruit flavors of a Walla Walla merlot.

We shouldn’t count out fresh-caught local salmon shown off best by Northwest chefs, either. On the other hand, what about the smooth creamy richness of Theo Chocolate?

Thank goodness we don’t have to choose just one. Because arguably, Washington encompasses more sumptuous flavors than any other state, with Taste Washington being the largest single-region wine and food event in the nation. 225 wineries have been chosen to aptly represent Washington as one of the world’s fastest-growing wine regions. And you can’t have that much good wine without some fine cuisine, so sixty Washington restaurants are joining the fray.

The event is about more than just your taste buds, though. (What? Really?) A major focus of the event is on education: seminars offered include a history of the Northwest cider revolution to a wine blending workshop. There are fantastic opportunities for vertical wine tasting: try wines by different winemakers made with grapes from the same eight featured vineyards. And there’s a schedule packed with star chefs exhibiting their culinary dexterity at the Viking Chef’s Stage: marvel at RN74’s Kim Mahar, Barking Frog’s Bobby Moore and Crush’s Jason Wilson (to name a few) in action.

All this under one roof? You got it. CenturyLink’s 200,000-sq.ft. Event Center will be packed to the gills with flavors as diverse as the state itself: come decide which one is really the quintessential taste of Washington.
