Boundary Bay Cedar Dust IPA

by | Aug 28, 2014

In addition to a permanent lineup of seven classic ales, plus several seasonal and smaller-batch options, Bellingham brewery staple Boundary Bay caters to adventurous palates with a rotating set of creations from its Galbraith Series. These limited-batch brews are named after popular mountain biking trails at nearby Galbraith Mountain, and meant to evoke flavors inspired by the Pacific Northwest outdoors.

Just in time for the impending switch to fall varietals, Boundary Bay has replaced its summertime Galbraith brew with a seasonal IPA (fellow fans of personal favorite Whoopsie Whoodle Lager will have to wait until next year). The Cedar Dust IPA pours an autumnal ruby/light amber, with a strong pine and citrus aroma from Mosaic hops. Its particular combination of hops and malts (including a super-secret ingredient) results in a decidedly earthy flavor. This IPA is characteristically hop-forward, followed by a smooth blueberry undertone and a pungent finish. Local IPA fans can grab a pint while supplies last, and look forward to future taps from the Galbraith Series.
