Howling Bluff Estate Winery 2012 Sauvignon Blanc-Sémillon

by | Jul 9, 2014

This wine was awarded a Lieutenant Governor Awards for Excellence in British Columbia Wines last month, recognized as one of the top 12 wines in the competition. Howling Bluff Estate Winery is the culmination of a 20 year dream to make exceptional wines. A no-compromise attitude from owner Luke Smith results in their use of only their own estate-grown grapes, and they produce a small portfolio in limited quantities. Their stunning Summa Quies vineyard is a contiguous 20 acres surrounding the winery on the Naramata Bench. This blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon yields bright citrus, orange rind, stony flint, lees, and cream. Assertive and confident flint, minerality and herbal meadow flowers on the finish. A lovely example of how well this classic grape blend can work wonders in the Okanagan when treated with care.
