Va Piano Vineyards 2013 Cabernet Franc Rosé

by | May 14, 2014

Va Piano Vineyards holds to their philosophy of growing the best grapes in the vineyard, then employing a sustainable, holistic and hands-off approach once in the cellar. The Walla Walla Valley producer is best known for their Cabernet Sauvignons and Syrahs from neighboring vineyards (Yakima’s DuBrul vineyards and Les Collines grown up the hill from the estate property), but 2013 brought a vintage easily accessible for a Cabernet Franc rosé. With 100 percent Columbia Valley Cabernet Franc, this wine will come and go—only 77 cases were made and it’s a chugger of pink proportions. The nose is alluring with rose petal, watermelon water and savory herbs while the palate picks up the play with tart strawberry and juicy red fruits, followed by bright acid that is balanced by a creamy texture.
