When a world class team of celebrity chefs come together in the heart of Vancouver to promote the success of young Canadian chefs just breaking their way into the culinary world, you know it’s going to be good. On Sunday, Oct. 27, renowned chefs will come together at Hawksworth Restaurant to cook and judge during an evening of gourmet food and drink, and the crowning of one talented young chef.
During the day, celebrity judges will watch as young chefs cook to compete for a place in the final round of the Hawksworth Young Chef Scholarship. Celebrity judges include Chef David Hawksworth of Hawksworth Restaurant, Hawksworth’s Chef de Cuisine Kristian Eligh, Vancouver’s renowned chef and author Chef Vikram Vij, owner and head chef of Montreal’s Toquè! and Brasserie T! Chef Normand Lapise, the star of Top Chef Canada Chef Mark McEwan, and Corporate Executive Chef Anthony Walsh of Oliver & Bonacini Restaurants.
Not only will this star-studded team be casting their votes for the recipient of the $10,000 Hawksworth Young Chef Scholarship, but they will also be heading to Hawksworth Restaurant’s kitchen to prepare a mouth-watering dinner to be devoured by attendees of the event. The fundraising dinner will begin at 5 pm at Hawksworth Restaurant located in downtown Vancouver at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia and includes five-courses of sumptuous excellence. Each member of the celebrity culinary panel has crafted a special dish for the meal and Chef Hawksworth boasts that, “We’re excited to experience the cuisine of so many great chefs in one special dinner.”
The Hawksworth Young Chef Scholarship is a Canadian non-profit foundation committed to promoting culinary excellence and providing opportunities for young chefs to “get a head start through recognition, mentorship and an unparalleled opportunity to work in the country’s leading restaurants.”
