Glenglassaugh Welcomes 15 Years Old to its Core Range of Coastal Single Malt Scotch Whiskies

by | Aug 7, 2026

The new permanent expression joins the award-winning portfolio, bringing together the distillery’s signature coastal character with 15 years of maturation in Pedro Ximénez and Spanish wine casks

LOUISVILLE, KY –The release of The Glenglassaugh 15 Years Old marks a significant milestone for the brand, building on the success of the flagship 12 Year Old. The new whisky, enriched through maturation in Pedro Ximénez sherry and Spanish wine casks, has a rich depth, its flavour profile showcasing chocolate and coffee notes, layered with the distillery’s signature tropical fruit and a distinct touch of sea salt.

Shaped by the influences of land and sea, casks filled with the distillery’s vibrant, ripe style of spirit, formed from mineral-rich spring water, then continued their maturation process in its coastal warehouses, giving the Glenglassaugh 15 Years Old its rich sun-kissed depth. The new release can be experienced in its purest form either neat or with a dash of spring water. This allows the aroma and depth of flavour to reveal the layers of complexity on the palate, from unctuous salted treacle and caramelised date, to juicy orange papaya enveloped with chocolate and coffee.

“The 15 Years Old is a magnificent natural evolution, showing how our coastal location shapes the lush Glenglassaugh spirit over time,” said Glenglassaugh Master Blender Rachel Barrie. “Creating this expression, I was inspired by time spent on the beach at Sandend Bay, while the sun sets over the North Sea. I’ve layered Pedro Ximénez sherry and Spanish wine casks to give breathtaking and indulgent depth of flavour. Every sip offers the signature coastal character of Glenglassaugh, enveloped in a luxurious date, orange papaya and chocolate elixir.”

For over two decades, coastal distillery Glenglassaugh lay silent before it was reawakened in 2008. Founded in 1875 in the Highlands, overlooking the crescent beach of Sandend Bay on the Moray Firth in Scotland, it has remained a small, boutique scotch whisky distillery and has gone on to release a range of award-winning whiskies. Its coming of age was heralded in 2023 with a new portfolio and design direction led by the flagship 12 Years Old expressing a signature lush, coastal style, and complemented by a rare collection of casks matured in its warehouses since the 1970s.

“Glenglassaugh is one of those malts which is truly a hidden jewel, perfect for single malt connoisseurs looking to add something unique to their collection,” said Brand Director Adip Agrawal. “For me, the whisky from Glenglassaugh beautifully manages to capture the essence of its natural coastal surroundings in every drop. The fifteen-year-old brings complexity and richness with harmonious character, marking a significant milestone in the story of this reawakened coastal gem.”

The Glenglassaugh 15 Years Old will launch globally from 20th July with a recommended retail price of $110. The launch will roll out into North-America in late July, select European markets from August, and select Asia-Pacific markets from September. Timing of product availability and pricing will vary by country.

ABOUT THE GLENGLASSAUGH DISTILLERY

About Glenglassaugh Distillery

Glenglassaugh Distillery was founded in 1875 near Sandend Bay on the Moray Firth coast of the Scottish Highlands. The distillery was silent for over two decades before being reawakened in 2008. At the time of its reawakening, an exceptional treasure of rare whisky casks was discovered in its coastal warehouses, some laid to rest for over five decades. These ultra-prestige rare aged whiskies are released as part of The Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection.

As a small, boutique producer, Glenglassaugh is defined by its coastal location, where its casks mature within sight of the sea. Its single malt is known for its signature lush, coastal style, with spirit matured in coastal warehouses where the environment subtly influences the unique flavour profile. The portfolio of coastal single malts includes the aged expressions Glenglassaugh 12 Years Old and the new 15 Years Old, two non-age-statement expressions, Sandend and Portsoy, and the prestigious Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection. Most recently, Glenglassaugh 12 Years Old, Sandend and Portsoy all received Double Gold Medals at the San Francisco Wine and Spirits Competition 2026, with each expression scoring an impressive 97 points out of 100.
