From the shores of Vancouver Island to the rolling hills of the Okanagan Valley, BC’s Pinot Noirs come in second for the most planted red wine grape in the land, according to winebc.com. With more than 900 acres planted, Pinot Noirs are the top planted grape in four of the five major BC wine regions.
To celebrate this very special grape, uncorking for its second year is the annual BC Pinot Noir Celebration and Salmon Bake at the Meyer Family Vineyards in the gorgeous landscape of the Okanagan Falls, just south of the Skaha Lake. Spend the afternoon enjoying wines from eight of BC’s finest producers of Pinot Noir while dining on freshly caught and expertly prepared salmon by Joy Road Catering on Sunday, Sept. 1.
Arriving with wines to showcase will be a handful of Okanagan Valley wineries as well as those from neighboring regions in BC. Those participating include: Averill Creek Vineyard from Vancouver Island, as well as Liquidity Wines, Lake Breeze Vineyards and Tantalus Vineyards all from varying locations throughout the Okanagan Valley.
While sips and bites are nice and relaxing, the discussion titled “BC vs. The World” should spur some excitement with guest educators, writers and consultants joining in the conversation. Speakers include Rhys Pender, John Schreiner and Kurtis Kolt.
The night will then wrap up with an open social gathering on the vineyard grounds spent mixing and mingling with the winemakers and other professionals while live music hums into the night.
