There’s nothing better than sitting by a window with a glass of wine and taking in whichever view stares back at you, be it the lazy bustle of a Seattle neighborhood or the rolling hills of the Willamette Valley. With five wineries that have opened up new spaces, or are in the process of doing so, there are endless opportunities to enjoy great wines with a new view.
Welcome Road Winery | Seattle
With the Syrah and Bordeaux-style blends being the stars of the show, this urban tasting room matches the vibe of its home neighborhood, just outside of West Seattle’s Junction hub. Newly opened in November, owners Leigh McMillan and Kristen Dorrity encourage people, and maybe even a dog or two, to come by, enjoy a glass of their French-inspired wines, and celebrate what it means to have a good time.
Grizzli Winery | West Kelowna, BC
With an estimated $30 million put into this Tuscan-style winery, this new maker stands grand with windows against the beautiful Okanagan Valley. Now part of the famous Westside Wine Trail in Kelowna, Grizzli Wines opened in the late last summer and has since then lured in plenty of eager wine connoisseurs into their magnificent tasting room. Stop by during the winter months and sip on some of their sweet Icewine to warm up from the inside out with a fruity taste of what British Columbia does best.
Kasia | Snohomish, WA
This new tasting room, located in historic Downtown Snohomish, reflects the combination of love and passion for wine that is one of the boutique winery’s mottos. After owner Kasia Kim moved to the United States from Poland in 1997, she spent years tasting the wines that Washington had to offer and decided it was time to give the wine industry her own go, hoping to exceed the already high standards of Washington State wine. With cozy leather couches and delicate hanging light fixtures, her new space, which opened in December, is the perfect place to celebrate Kim’s joy for wine and life.
L’angolo | Newberg, OR
Having just opened in November, the modern yet cozy tasting room stands proudly in the midst of 100 percent organically farmed Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. An ode to Northwest traditional style and class, the young winery is bringing a modern twist to the basic wine tasting room ambiance. Wrap up in one of their Pendleton wool blankets with a glass of your favorite and look out onto the what once was abandoned nut orchard for a romantic view of what Oregon wine is all about.
Succession Winery | Manson, WA
Although their grand opening will not be for a few more weeks, Succession Winery is in the process of having their soft opening with weekend hours in their near-finished tasting room. With striking glass windows that gaze out onto serene Lake Chelan, owners Brock and Erica Lindsay are hoping to provide their visitors with a visit full of elegance, class, get a real taste of what they’re all about and what the Chelan Valley has to offer.
