Whistling Andy Distilling Hopshnop

by | Jan 9, 2015

“No one else on the market that we’re aware of has a product quite like it,” says Brian Anderson of Whistling Andy Distilling. The Bigfork, Montana operation produces its one-of-a-kind Hopshnop once a year and stocks it only while supplies last. Coaxed from barrels of nearby Blackfoot River Brewing’s hard-to-come-by IPA (set aside especially for the distillery because of how well it translates to a spirit), the resultant product is remarkable in its pronounced hop flavor yet surprising in its nuance. At 34 percent ABV, Hopshnop is not only malty-sweet, subtle and drinkable but worth the effort of procuring a rare bottle just to try something completely unique.
