Celebrating the New Nonstop Route From Seattle to Tokyo
The Narita Banana, Created in Collaboration with Japan’s Acclaimed Tokyo Confidential, Offers a Taste of Tokyo for Travelers Taking the Airline’s New Route Between Seattle & Tokyo
SEATTLE, May 12, 2025 – To mark the launch of Alaska Airlines’ new nonstop route from Seattle to Tokyo-Narita, Seattle’s Westland Distillery has partnered with Tokyo’s celebrated cocktail bar Tokyo Confidential to introduce a one-of-a-kind cocktail: the Narita Banana. Available exclusively at the North Satellite Alaska Lounge at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, this creation is a flavorful farewell to Seattle and a nod to what awaits in Tokyo.
Inspired by the iconic Japanese sweet Tokyo Banana, the cocktail brings together two cultures in one cocktail. It features Westland’s Flagship American Single Malt, banana liqueur, pineapple juice, rich simple syrup, and the guest’s choice of milk, finished with a pinch of salt for balance.
“Japan and the Pacific Northwest share a deep reverence for craftsmanship, flavor, and intention,” says Jason Moore of Westland Distillery. “Collaborating with Tokyo Confidential and Alaska Airlines gave us the chance to bring those cultural connections together into something fun and delicious.”
“Tokyo Confidential is honored to be part of travelers’ experience with the launch of this new direct flight between Seattle and Tokyo,” adds Holly Graham, founder of Tokyo Confidential. “We wanted to create an unexpected drink that draws on the umami of Westland American Single Malt and presents it in a playful way that nods to Japan’s most iconic omiyage.”
The Narita Banana will be available starting today through the summer at the North Satellite Alaska Lounge. In addition, Alaska will also offer Westland’s Flagship and Garryana expressions, with Garryana named third top new whiskey in the world in 2023 by Whisky Advocate magazine — in the North Satellite Lounge year-round. Alaska’s new nonstop service between Seattle and Tokyo-Narita will be operated by Hawaiian Airlines on Airbus A330-200 aircraft. By 2030, Alaska Air Group plans to serve at least 12 nonstop international destinations with widebody aircraft from Seattle.
“We’re excited to partner with Westland Whiskey, a brand that is deeply rooted in the Pacific Northwest and believes in bringing people and cultures together,” says Todd Traynor-Corey, Vice President of Guest Products and Experience at Alaska Airlines. “The Narita Banana is a toast to new beginnings, global connections and the remarkable travel experience that we are known for.”
