We Dig: Juice Cleanses (Part 2)

by | Jan 14, 2014

If you’ve made the decision to do a cleanse but aren’t sure where to begin, you’ve come to the right place. In the second edition of our ode to juice-cleansing, we provide information on juice bars from Vancouver to Portland. And the best part? They all deliver.

If you’ve ever visited a big, pink truck in Vancouver’s Gastown neighborhood, then you probably know that The Juice Truck serves up a large selection of cold-pressed juices that are both nutritious and tasty. But, what started as a juice-stop has grown into the Juice Cleanse. Wanting to provide a cleanse “designed to help you push the reset button,” the people behind The Juice Truck developed three, five and seven day cleanses that are rich in nutrients and perfect for rejuvenating your body from the inside out. You can purchase a cleanse (complete with juices like “The Digestive” and “Detox Tonic”), or build your own with a wide selection of juices to “Pick and Mix” from ($65 and up). You can pick-up your cleanse or have it delivered straight to your door. || Cleanses range in price from $195-$455.

If the idea of doing a cleanse seems daunting, Seattle’s Juicebox makes it easier with their guided cleanse ($35). With the guided cleanse you receive a diet assessment, tips and daily inspiration, handcrafted recipes from Juicebox chef Kari Brunson, and all the education you need to prep and end your cleanse safely. And, because everyone cleanses differently, Juicebox offers a variety of cleanse packages from the “juice till dinner” ($30) cleanse (great for beginners or anyone looking for a quick clean-up), to a five-day “all green cleanse” ($325) to achieve the ultimate in body purification. This 100 percent organic cold-pressed juicery will even deliver your cleanse for added convenience. || Cleanses range in pricing from $30 a meal to $325 for a five day stint.

Portland Juice Press describes a juice cleanse as “a way to give your body a rest from having to process fats, additives and countless other toxins that work their way into our diet, no matter how careful we are.” Sounds like something we all could use, doesn’t it? Providing 100 percent natural, fresh-pressed juices, Portland Juice Press is a great way for PDXers to flush their bodies clean. And, if you cleanse with friends Portland Juice Press will reward you with 10 percent off your detoxifying purchase. Do a three, four, five or six-day cleanse and each morning Portland Juice Press will deliver a “juice box” complete with five fresh-pressed juices and one hazelnut milk. || Cleanses range in price from $165 to $330.

Tip: If you’re not ready for a total juice cleanse, Seattle’s Juicebox says you can pair your cleanse with raw foods, broths and teas to add some ease to your detox.
