Born and raised on their family’s five-generation-old Yakima Valley farm, brothers Patrick and Matthew Rawn wore every hat around the property from forklift operators to takeout order-retreivers as they grew up—now their hats are worn as vignerons. Two Mountain Winery, named for Mount Adams and Mount Rainier which serve as the setting of the estate Copeland Vineyard, was launched by the two brothers on their family property with first the vineyard in 2000 and then the winery six years later. The 2012 Lemberger from Rattlesnake Hills is one of the two wines they source grapes for—namely because there is roughly 80 acres planted of the grape in Washington state so it is quite literally slim pickins. This vintage’s rendition is dark and juicy, with aromas of baking spices, plum and fruit leathers. The palate pulls over the same tones and finishes broad and juicy yet dry.
