On Fridays in March, The Vintages will highlight a groundbreaking wine producer
As part of the hotel’s celebration of Women’s History Month, The Vintages Trailer Resort will host four boutique wineries helmed by groundbreaking women—Alumbra Cellars, Day Wines, Helioterra Wines, and Remy Wines–for pop-up pourings on Friday evenings in March. Friday stays that month will include a complimentary evening wine reception featuring a different boutique winemaker and the chance to taste the highlighted winery’s current releases, many of which are only available locally and made in limited quantities.
When selecting wineries for the partnership, The Vintages Trailer Resort General Manager Jaime Weibelhaus prioritized small producers with storied women winemakers.
“We can’t wait for our guests to meet some of the Willamette Valley’s leading women winemakers through this series,” said Weibelhaus. “As a female-owned business ourselves, The Vintages has great respect for the contributions of women in wine cellars across the region, and we know our guests will be impressed with their wines and their inspiring stories.”
The featured wineries set to appear at The Vintages in March (full schedule below) each offer a different lens through which guests of the series can better understand current approaches to Oregon winemaking. In many cases, resort guests will have the rare opportunity to taste and purchase wines with the winemakers themselves in The Vintages’ private, Mid-Century Modern Clubhouse.
Women’s History Month Pouring Schedule
Friday, March 1: Remy Wines
Founded in 2006 by native Oregonian and queer winemaker, Remy Drabkin, Remy Wines is a Willamette Valley winery rooted in service to the community. Much like its visionary founder, Remy Wines honors Old-World winemaking traditions with a fresh voice and undeniable flair. In addition to leading Remy Wines, Drabkin is Co-Founder of Wine Country Pride and Founder of the world’s first Queer Wine Fest, taking place at Remy Wines’ welcoming, unpretentious farmhouse winery and tasting room on June 30, 2024. Fans of Italian wines will especially enjoy trying Remy’s Pacific Northwest take on Lagrein, Dolcetto, and Sangiovese-based wines!
Friday, March 8: Alumbra Cellars
Elena Rodriguez is the President, Winemaker, and Viticulturist at Alumbra Cellars in Dayton, Oregon. Elena grew up in Yamhill County, graduated from Dayton High School, and attended the University of Oregon before returning to her family’s farm, which her father purchased in 1996 and planted grape vines in 2005. Elena became a winemaker after continuing her education in the Wine Studies program at Chemeketa Community College, and then built the Alumbra Cellars wine brand to share two important aspects of her life: her Mexican roots and her love of being Oregon born. Elena’s wines, like her, are refreshing and memorable. A passionate community-builder, Elena also sits on the board of AHIVOY (Asociacion Hispana de la Industria del Vino en Oregon y Comunidad), a nonprofit educational program for vineyard stewards.
Friday, March 15: Day Wines
Founded by winemaker, owner, and mom Brianne Day in the 2012 vintage, Day Wines is a producer of boutique, artisanal bottlings made from fruit sourced exclusively from a small group of Oregon growers who utilize biodynamic, organic and/or sustainable vineyard practices. To create distinct expressions of their corner of the world, Day Wines focuses on fruit harvested from the esteemed Willamette Valley to unexpected varietals found in Southern Oregon’s Applegate Valley AVA.
Friday, March 22: Helioterra Wines
Helioterra Wines is a small, artisan producer of Northwest wines made at an urban winery in SE Portland, Oregon. In 2000, winemaker Anne Hubatch realized her future in the heart of Oregon wine country and then began her decade-long, experiential wine training with some of Oregon’s best winemakers–Eric Hamacher, David Adelsheim, Joe Dobbes, and Alfredo Apolloni. In 2009, Anne introduced her first solo vintage under Helioterra Wines. The name draws on geological inspirations, symbolizing Heliolite, the Oregon state gemstone. ‘Helio’ and ‘terra’ combine the Greek words for sun and earth, natural partners for quality grape growing. Anne is known for her skill in crafting many different varieties well, offering fans a wide variety of wine styles, from Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois, Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and Syrah, to Mourvèdre and Grenache from warmer regions in the PNW.
Friday wine receptions will be held at The Vintages Trailer Resort (16205 SE Kreder Road, Dayton, OR 97114) Clubhouse from 5-7pm and will be open to overnight guests of the hotel only.
