SPIRIT FRIDAYS: Tatoosh Distillery Whiskey
With roots buried in Northwest agriculture and moonshine, Joe Eliasen and Troy Turner came together to make whiskey right and legally (unlike their Scottish and Irish ancestors) in Seattle. Making “damn great whiskey,” Tatoosh’s recipe dates back to the founders’ distilling forefathers — allegedly based on 100-year-old family whiskey cooking instructions that call for Cascade Mountains water specifically and to be aged in French oak casks. The outcome is the Tatoosh Whiskey, a spirit robust in leather, oak and caramel aromas. The palate is barrel-inspired, seasoned by toast and tobacco and finishing with a spicy hit to its smooth, sweetness.
