BEER THURSDAY: Pfriem Family Brewers Belgian Strong Blonde
A full calendar year has yet to pass since Josh Pfriem fired up his brew kettle in Hood River, Ore. and launched Pfriem Family Brewers on the brim of the Columbia River. Cutting his teeth at Chuckanut Brewery and Full Sail Brewing, Pfriem’s Northwest and Belgian-inspired brews were much anticipated when released and have recently pushed their way into the Washington market as well as in their home of Oregon. The Belgian Strong Blonde is another creation of Pfriem’s that Flemish enthusiasts should be jazzed about – the nose carries the gentle sweetness of clove spice, cinnamon sticks and comice pear backed by rich cream and the palate continues the honeyed flavors through malts but thanks to a spark of acid and a slight hit of hop bitterness, the beer finishes round and clean.
