Staycation at Chateau Ste. Michelle

Make Plans to Take a Staycation to Chateau Ste. Michelle

Memorial Day’s a month away, and you know perfectly well that you deserve a vacation. You also know you don’t want to fight the floods of travelers also on their way to wherever you might have thought of going. Why not take a holiday in your own backyard?

Better yet, let’s take one in Chateau Ste. Michelle’s backyard, since we can’t all have properties that look like theirs.

Good thing the Chateau is down for a party now and again, especially at the corner of spring and summer. For the third year running they’re culling a seasonal mishmash of amusements for our festal pleasure and calling it Staycation. Wheels, in the form of a rare and exotic car show and on an array of hot new food trucks (Parfait Ice Cream, Jemil’s Big Easy, Now Make Me A Sandwich – they just keep popping up!) meet CSM’s established repertoire of estival wines, which in turn pair perfectly with the pictorial locale that feels much further away than just Woodinville. It’s through the porthole of the Chateau gate that we’ll find ourselves in this place reminiscent of an aristocratic European summer home crisscrossed with a Renaissance fairground.

You needn’t take my word for it: put on the shorts and sundresses you’ve had boxed away for too many months, grab your best picnic blanket and come see what it’s all about on Sunday, May 26th. Between the wine, food and entertainment, it’s a feast for the eyes as much as for the palate. Just add all the other people who don’t want to spend their holiday fighting traffic, and one of Memorial Day weekend’s most delightful jubilees awaits ever so close to home.

Sunday, May 26 || 11am-4pm || Chateau Ste. Michelle, 14111 Northeast 145th Street, Woodinville || Cost: free admission, food and wine for purchase.
