Oregon wine pioneers Bill Blosser and Susan Sokol Blosser planted vines on their property in Willamette Valley in 1971 under the winery name Sokol Blosser. The couple also trailblazed into the sustainability realm, receiving certification for a Salmon-Safe vineyard and running on 100% renewable power in the winery and offices; they also became the first winery building in the country to earn the prestigious LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification and are opening a new environmental standard-setting tasting room in Dundee Hills this July. Another first for the winery is their non-vintage Evolution White Brut Sparkling wine, a bubbles plugged version of their exceedingly popular Evolution white blend. Multiple vintages, multiple varieties with varying winemaking techniques (oak, malolactic, etc.) and made in methode champenoise, this sparkling wine is everything the public loves about the Evolution white but with the spark of bubbles. Ripe stone fruit of nectarine and white peach with citrus zest and pineapple upside-down cake, the palate is fleshy in similar fruits and creamy in mousse, the finish is a crisp, clean and simply satisfying.
