Snowdrift Cider Co. Perry

by | May 27, 2014

Set amongst the basalt-rich cliffs of East Wenatchee, Wash., Snowdrift Cider Co. produces ciders from cider varieties on their orchard that grown apples, pears, cherries, and grapes in the Wenatchee Valley since the 1940s. The current orchard was planted in the late ’60s and most recently with the additional of cider varieties, although the family states on their website they were making cider from a 100-year-old hand crank press generations back. Peter and Mary Ann Ringsrud and their family run the cider farm, starting with four blends at 200 cases to nearly 2,000 cases today. The Perry, made in méthode champenoise, is rich and round rendition, back for a second vintage. Tried and true in pear aromas and flavor, with baking spices and honey, this cider is sparkling, smooth and texturally appealing whilst remaining crisp with acid and tannin in the finish.
