Sip and Smoke 2015

by | Feb 25, 2015

“Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough.” — Mark Twain

The Pacific Northwest has become a hotbed of local distilleries in recent years. There are currently 27 distilleries producing whiskey in the state of Washington alone, and more on the horizon. But for anyone who wishes to enter into the wonderful world of whiskey, the undertaking can seem rather daunting. So many distilleries, so much whiskey and a general hesitation of entering into a new situation without any idea of what you are doing, can ward many people off from ever trying.

But fear no more! Chef John Howie and his SPORT Restaurant & Bar and Rain Cigar City, in partnership with Sip Northwest, presents “Sip & Smoke,” a whiskey tasting event that will be held at SPORT in Seattle on February 27, 2015 at 6:30pm.

Guests of the event can look forward to six tastes of local whiskey and four tastes of Woodford Reserve whiskey personally blended by Chef Howie, a Riedel etched whiskey glass, a Partagas 1845 cigar presented by Rain City Cigars and a copy of Sip Northwest’s current issue.

Along with the 10 whiskey tastes, Chef Howie has created food pairings at each station to compliment each sip. John Howie’s Woodford Reserve Personal Selection bourbon will make up four of the tastings; all blended by Chef Howie at Woodford Reserve’s distillery in Kentucky. The tasting stations will feature the following distilleries: 2bar Spirits, Bainbridge Island Distillery, Heritage Distilling, Tatoosh Distillery, Westland Distillery and Woodinville Whiskey.

Tickets and more information can be found at brownpapertickets.com. But hurry fast! There are only so many tickets left available for this exclusive event!
