Seven Falls Cellars 2014 GPS White Blend

by | Dec 23, 2015

Named after a set of seven waterfalls that once flowed through the Cascade Mountains, Seven Falls Cellars is found in the same region which is now known as the Wahluke Slope viticultural appellation. Tucked above the Columbia River, the Washington vineyard grows a selection of varietals, from Cabernet Sauvignon to Chardonnay, Merlot and more. Each single-vineyard wine made from the estate site is barrel-aged in a combination of French and American oak to produce a “true-to-varietal” showcase.

The GPS White Blend is the only blend from the vineyard and turns toward a Rhone-style mix of 48 percent Roussanne, 32 percent Viognier and 20 percent Marsanne. A slight exception to the barrel-aged rule, the majority of the fruit was fermented in stainless steel tanks for up to 40 days, while a small slice of the Roussanne was fermented in neutral oak. Aromatics are bold and vivacious with colorful stone fruit, spring flowers and almond tones that open to creamy lemon curd and fresh-sliced pear for a silky, juicy and bright finish.
