Sea Cider Rumrunner

by | Aug 27, 2013

Using traditional French, British and American cidermaking methods, while hand-pressing and fermenting with champagne yeast, Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse keep their ciders organic and local to their Victoria, BC, facility. Cider maker Kristen Jordan inherited her family’s apple orchard as a teenager but it wasn’t until a decade ago when she decided to turn her hobby into a business and Sea Cider was born. Amongst a lineup of other handsome ciders, the Rumrunner is a semi-dry (yet staggeringly close to semi-sweet) sparkling cider that is aged in rum barrels, resulting in a cider that is full-bodied and full of fervor. Aromas and flavors of brown sugar, toffee, nutmeg and cinnamon are dominate, while a hint of molasses rounds out the bunch and the inherent apple tartness and acid balances out the sweetness.
