Schilling Cider is up to no good with its latest pomegranate and cranberry cider, the Mischief Maker. Actually, they are up to very good things it seems, as the Mischief Maker manages to surprise and satisfy. At a first look, the cider is a very deep shade of red in which no light escapes. Although the aromas show few signs of pomegranate and plenty of apple, the palate is the complete opposite. Pomegranate is the feature here and it shines brightly. After the initial blast of flavor, it recedes to the cranberry aftertaste without a hint of apple left on the palette. The finish welcomes balance of tart and dryness for a crisp and fruit-forward cider. It seems that whatever Schilling is making, whether that is mischief or cider, they are doing it right.
