Savor Hope with Food Lifeline at Cedarbrook Lodge

by | Apr 6, 2016

Cedarbrook LodgeFood Lifeline and a team of local celebrity chefs raised more than $432,300 to stop hunger in Western Washington at the fifth annual Savor: Sustaining Lives, Nourishing Hope benefit on Saturday, March 19, 2016.

The featured chefs at Savor included: Roy Breiman and Mark Bodinet of Copperleaf Restaurant & Bar; Armandino Batali of Salumi; Bruno Feldeisen of Semiahmoo Resort; Bobby Moore of Barking Frog; Jason Wilson of Miller’s Guild; Maxime Bilet of Imagine Food Innovation Group; and Eric Tanaka of Tom Douglas Seattle Kitchen. Each chef created a signature course for the evening with the assistance of a guest who had bid on the opportunity to be their “sous chef.” Each course was paired with vintages from Charles Smith Wines.

“I’m completely amazed by the outpouring of support at this year’s event. The money raised by this remarkable group of people will make a difference for the entire year,” said Linda Nageotte, President and CEO of Food Lifeline. “The difference between a family that might not have enough, and a family with plenty.”

The reception took place on the Copperleaf Terrace and featured the participating chefs and musician Michaud Savage, with Charcuterie tasting from local artisan Armandino Batali and mini martini bar tasting from Heritage Distilling.  Savor included Mark Wright, news anchor for KING 5 Morning News as the emcee for the fifth year in a row. Jeff and Korynne Wright served as the Honorary Event Chairs helping to make the night special. In addition to the plated dinner, Savor featured a live auction of exclusive culinary and travel experiences. Some of the auction items included:

Dinner for 12 people in Tom Douglas’ Home
A Sommelier’s Dream Dinner on Puget Sound
Pop-Up Loulay Dinner for 20

“Savor is a catalyst for Food Lifeline’s year round dedication to eliminating local hunger, and all of us at Cedarbrook Lodge are so lucky to play a part each year in making a rewarding event like this happen,” said Roy Breiman, Culinary Director of Cedarbrook Lodge. “With exquisite dishes and this year’s guest chefs, we couldn’t be happier to have hosted another outstanding Savor.”

The evening also included a heartwarmingly generous match from Bruce and Jeannie Nordstrom during the Raise the Paddle appeal. The $100,000 matched each gift–dollar for dollar–resulting in a Raise the Paddle total of more than $200,000 to help hungry people in our community. The total raised during the course of the night will help provide more than 2.1 million meals in Western Washington.
