This cider is truly sacrilegious.
By that, “Reverend” Nat West means he didn’t follow any commandments when making this Sacrilege Sour Cherry cider and it might be what some cider-consumers consider blasphemy to the fermented cider game. An unorthodox reverend by trade anyway, it only is true to form that Reverent Nat’s Hard Cider starts with a tart blend of heritage dessert apples for their sour cherry cider, press the juices off then add a few hundred pounds of tart pie cherries into the mix along with the lactobacillus yeast strain, more likely seen in Lambic-style brews than cherry ciders.
The repercussions are not for the faint of heart—wussy cider-sippers need not apply to this off-dry, seriously sour cherry cider. Channeling the Duchesse de Bourgogne classic Belgian lambic red ale, the Sacrilege Sour Cherry has an accurate nose of tart cherry, berry pie and red Sour Patch kids. The palate follows in suit with tart cherry flavors and vivacious acid for the semi-dry finish that is peculiarly comparable to the sweet and sour effect of POP ROCKS candy, lingering in tart fruitiness.
