Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider lives up to the hype that has prospered around the man (Nat West) and his Portland-based cider movement. It’s a task not mention “good news” or “gospel” when referencing Reverent Nat’s evangelistic approach on cider—see the multiple videos, festivals and associations founded by the man and his cidery—he has done serious work to get cider on the Northwest mainstream. The Tent Show, a series of limited release ciders that are West’s experiments of “any combination of flavors free of judgement,” take his love of “food, beer, nature, art, friends” and serve it up in a chilly glass.
The d’Anjou Mosaic is the second release in the single varietal pear and hop series, using the aromatic French pear variety, fermenting with South African white wine yeast and hopped with Mosaics. The newer hop variety brings in tropical fruit tones with its green, and the pear is round, with baking spices and toasted fruit, finishing off-dry and texturally intriguing.
