Radio Stations that Rock Beer

by | Jan 31, 2017

Memories are made when beer and music come together. A few Northwest genius minds decided that only great things could come from teaming up breweries with radio stations and took action in combining the two. Money has being donated to charity, music lovers are testing new local beers and beer enthusiasts are listening to new music from the around region and beyond. Here are four radio-beer collaborations to tip back to your favorite song.

KZOK Electric Citrus IPA and KZOK High Voltage Double IPA | Bellevue Brewing Co.
Nothing says classic rock better than India pale ale and Bellevue Brewing does it twice. For a taste of what Seattle’s classic rock station 102.5 FM KZOK is all about, the brewery found its inner rockstar and created two unique brews: Electric Citrus IPA and the High Voltage Double IPA. A portion of each beer and its merchandise sold goes straight to the featured charities. Whether you take your hops citrusy and juicy or extreme and surrounded by malts, these beers will rock your socks off.

Men’s Room Original Red | Elysian Brewing
This original style red beer, brewed in Seattle, paired up with The Men’s Room radio show on 99.9 FM KISW for a mix of a hilarious afternoon talk show action and the perfect happy hour sipper. This malty, amber-colored beer fills with robust flavor and is found all over the PNW, including the four Elysian Brewing locations. An added bonus: A portion of the proceeds go to supporting military vets and families, so toss a few back for the cause..

Alternator IPA | Alameda Brewing
Bring the beach to your house with this tropical Alternator IPA brewed by Alameda Brewing in Portland. 94.7 FM KNRK Alternative Portland radio was a perfect match to team up and promote this IPA to be something more powerful than just another brew. Realizing the importance that the oceans, rivers and streams bring to the community and beer itself, the two are sharing a portion of the proceeds with Surfrider Foundation. The money donated by both the brewery and the radio station will go towards keeping local Oregon water sources clean, because what is beer without water?

KEXP Transistor IPA | Scuttlebutt Brewing
Bringing the love of beer, music and community together seemed like a no-brainer when Scuttlebutt Brewing in Everett, Washington, reached out to 90.3 FM KEXP in Seattle to aid with the funding of the New Home project. Beer by beer and over the years, the two have worked together to reach their goals of building a new location for the growing, listener-funded alterative/indie rock station. Although funding has been achieved, the woody yet flowery hop-filled Transistor IPA still proudly wears the KEXP across its label.

Still not convinced that beer and radio are the perfect pair? Join public radio station 89.7 FM KLCC for the 2017 Brewfest in Eugene, Oregon, for two days of music and beer and help fund the station deemed “NPR for Oregonians. Sip on over 80 unique beers and ciders while celebrating music and appreciating the rocking combination of the three.
