Pyramid’s Apricot Ale is no newbie on the block, and has been a consistently well-received wheat ale since its introduction in 1994. The ale won its first award the year it debuted, and now, some 20 years later, the Apricot Ale won gold in the Fruit Wheat Beer Category at the 2014 Great American Beer Festival. It seems appropriate that this beer has earned its spot as a year-round on Pyramid’s roster, so let’s get down to the basics.
The Apricot Ale is a moderately fruity beer, with apricot juice on the nose and an earthy, stone fruit taste. While the apricot takes precedent in the mouth, the wheat of this ale follows through and balances out the flavor. Light body, upbeat carbonation and smooth texture make it an easy to drink crowd pleaser.
