Propolis Brewing Rosa

by | Feb 6, 2014

Centuries past, French and Belgian farmers would sate their thirst with satisfying gulps of handmade, herb and plant infused ales. Embodying medicinal properties similar to those found in tonics and tinctures, these rustic ales were imbibed to refresh and revitalize the body after a hard day’s work. Now, years later, Port Townsend, Wash.,’s Propolis Brewing resurrects this age-old brewing style to concoct contemporary bottles of effervescent suds that are hand-curated to include locally sourced, farm-grown flora.

Propolis offers an enticing spectrum of ales that evolve seasonally and monthly, including February’s release of the Rosa: a dark chocolate rose ale that is velvety in body and characterized by hints of chocolate, roasted walnut and floral notes. For an added nudge of passion, this farmhouse style philter pairs perfectly alongside more classical aphrodisiacs like chocolate and smoked oysters.
