In Preview: Craft Beer + Food

by | Aug 14, 2014

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” We’ve all likely heard the age-old idiom more than few times. But in the case of the fourth year of Seattle’s Craft Beer + Food event, we’re excited that the folks of the Washington Beer Blog have taken the already highly-anticipated smorgasbord and made it even better, with more restaurant and brewery pairings than ever.

Organized in part by our very own Kendall Jones, Sip Northwest beer writer and co-founder of Washington Beer Blog, this year’s Craft Beer + Food celebration will be held downtown at the posh Palace Ballroom on the evening of Wednesday, September 24. The ballroom will be filled with fresh plates and pours from favorite local restaurants and breweries—each working in teams of two to achieve the perfect microbrew and cuisine flavor pairings. “Our goal with Craft Beer + Food is to demonstrate how craft beer can be served alongside fine cuisine in the same way that people are accustomed to seeing wine served alongside fine cuisine,” Jones says.

Among this year’s culinary participants, two new Seattle-area restaurants will debut dishes at the event. Chef John Howie’s Beardslee Public House will pair up with a special Beardslee brew, and Tom Douglas will introduce his upcoming Mexican cantina alongside Fremont Brewing Company pairings.

Even better than a full spread of beer plus bites? 100 percent of the proceeds from Craft Beer + Food will go toward the event’s new beneficiary, Washington Wild’s Brewshed Alliance.
