Local craft breweries galore are set to invade the streets of Bellingham, Wash., from September 12-21, when Bellingham Beer Week will return (bigger than ever) for its third year.
In the past year alone, the sleepy bay town has been anything but, with the addition of two newcomers to its flourishing microbrew scene. Aslan Brewing Co. and Wander Brewing have joined Boundary Bay, Kulshan and Chuckanut Brewery and Kitchen in giving locals something to drink about. This year, all nine Whatcom County breweries teamed up to dream up an exclusive beer week collaboration brew. The Whatcom Wheat Ale is available locally, and a limited-supply can of the “Pacific Northwest rendition on German Kristalweizen” is the perfect opportunity to prepare for the main event.
Over the course of September’s 10-day celebration, more than 30 participating businesses will pack each day with a variety of local and regionally focused beer events. The final weekend will kick off with brews, brats and a slew of favorite regional (and international!) vendors at Bellingham Oktoberfest on Friday, September 19.
