Portland Soda Works Root Beer Syrup

by | Apr 27, 2015

We took in the splendor of the Portland Soda Works, the small batch, craft soda producer, last year, who, at the time, was only available at select restaurant locations by the glass. Since then, the 100-percent natural soda producer has gone through a bit of an expansion to include syrups along with the sodas, and can now be found in five Portland area New Seasons markets. These complex, multi-layered syrups make intricate and enticing drinks when combined with soda water, spirits and more.

Upon the first pour of their Root Beer, you’re struck by the impressive foam and a light brown, almost golden color. Aromas of allspice and cloves dominate the nose, while on the palate, strong flavors of cinnamon, black pepper, vanilla and molasses release. Don’t expect the usual taste of root beer with this one—filled with wholesome spice flavor, and a velvety texture with a fizzy punch, the Portland Soda Works Root Beer might just forever change your standard of soda drinking.
