Oregon native Jeff Parrish and his British ex-pat wife, Lynda, were tired of the commercial ciders that were available on the market. As a former resident of England’s Somerset region, the motherland of British cider, Lynda knew she and her husband could do something better. The couple launched the Oregon City, Oregon-based Portland Cider Co. in the fall of 2012, using Northwest apples, pressed fresh and never from concentrate. Their initial line fluctuated from their Kinda Dry to their Sorta Sweet, and now includes a perry and a Citra-hopped cider. Using their Kinda Dry as the base for the hopped rendition, the Hop’rageous is infused with a variety of hops that exude tropical notes alongside a pack of powerful citrus. The result is exactly that, with orange peel and juicy red apple, sealed up tight with bitter hops and bright citrus. Hopheads will be pleased and traditionalists will nod in understanding.
