Portland Brewing BlackWatch Cream Porter

by | Jan 15, 2015

Known to some as MacTarnahan’s Brewing Company (including Google Maps), the Portland Brewing Company was one of the original breweries to elevate Portland’s beer scene to what it is today. Their seasonal BlackWatch Cream Porter (available October 15 thru February 1) is so dark, light can only barely penetrate through the glass and it pours with a thin, light-brown head. Its mouthfeel is silky smooth and creamy, and even though the head dissipates fairly quickly, the beer surprisingly retains tons of carbonation that come to life with every sip. The BlackWatch is a sweet and slightly bitter-hopped beer with a strong presence of roasted malt and notes of vanilla, caramel, coffee and a nice spice finish.
