Parallel 49 Brewing Seedspitter

by | Aug 7, 2014

There are some beers that are memorable for the label, some for the name, some for the quirkiness and some for the quality. Parallel 49 Brewing Company’s Seedspitter is memorable on all counts.

This East Vancouver brewery was founded by three childhood friends who grew up in the neighborhood. Since opening Parallel 49, the brewery has quickly become known for its imaginative, envelope pushing beers and smart/snappy labels. Seedspitter is a summer seasonal that locals have started waiting for and stores stock up on. A crisp and dry Belgian-styled witbier is refreshed with watermelon, bringing some of the bright sunny fruit character without much of the sweetness. The pleasing sour citrus-rind wit character prevails, along with light spice, nutty cereal and lively fizz. Think of it as a grown-up fruit beer, with a kick ass label.
