New to the Series of Gorge Wine Adventures: The Growing Season Awakens; a Trail Through the Eastern Gorge

by | May 27, 2016

With a matching grant from Travel Oregon, funded by the Oregon Wine Country license plate program, with the support of many local businesses and through the beautiful genius of David Lloyd Imageworks we present the second in a series of Gorge Wine Adventures; a set of helpful itineraries to maximize one’s indulgence in the abundant offerings of the Columbia River Gorge.

“Gorge Wine Adventures offer a little wine for the adventurer and a little adventure for the wine-er! It’s a great combo!” says Nicole Backus of CGWA. “We wanted to make it easy for our guests to enjoy all that the Gorge has to offer and of course, enjoy some wine along the way.”

Gorge Wine Adventures are a combination of wine touring, outdoor recreation, sightseeing and great food experiences, all accompanied by local secrets to enhance each stop. These itineraries make planning a trip to the Gorge easy and fun, with plenty for flexibility for customization.

The Spring trail, titled The Growing Season Awakens, offers a relaxed two days of wine touring through the Eastern Gorge, highlighting the natural delights of spring and early summer. It spans 20 miles of the National Scenic Area journeying from Hood River to The Dalles, OR.

Future trials will feature other parts of the Columbia Gorge. Scheduled to release is an additional adventure for 2016; Fall in the Hood River Valley (September). Stay tuned for more information.

About Gorge Wine

The land, the people and the lifestyle define winemaking here. The area is enriched with a strong sense of adventure and taking the “road less traveled.” The winemakers here are iconoclasts and trailblazers, making extraordinary artisan wines in a place of incredibly wild beauty. With access to over 45 different premium grape varietals grown within this 40 mile stretch, the wine lover’s palate never grows weary. Inside this 40 mile stretch is an extraordinary combination of climates, soils, elevation and geology, providing some of the best and most varied grape varieties in the Pacific Northwest and thus the Columbia Gorge AVA is affectionately referred to as “A World of Wine in 40 Miles.”  www.gorgewine.com
