CARLTON, Ore. — September 5, 2025 — The Carlton Winemakers Studio, Oregon’s pioneering cooperative winemaking facility, is thrilled to announce the arrival of two acclaimed producers — Matzinger Davies and McCollum Heritage 91 — to its community of 12+ vintners for the 2025 vintage. Their addition brings fresh energy, world-class experience, and distinctive perspectives to the collaborative spirit that defines The Studio.
Since opening its doors in 2002, The Carlton Winemakers Studio has served as both a launch pad and creative hub for some of the Pacific Northwest’s most celebrated wines. As the region’s first alternating proprietorship, The Studio provides state-of-the-art equipment, a skilled full-time winemaking team, and an environment that encourages innovation. Housing multiple producers under one roof, it fosters a vibrant exchange of ideas and a shared commitment to quality that continues to shape Oregon’s wine story.
Founded by husband-and-wife team Anna Matzinger and Michael Davies, Matzinger Davies is celebrated for crafting small-lot Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Willamette Valley, as well as single-vineyard Sauvignon Blanc and Grenache from the Columbia River Gorge and a signature blend of craftsmanship, humor, and generosity. Known for their technical mastery, international experience, and approachable style honed at Archery Summit and Rex Hill respectively, Anna and Michael bring a deep respect for Oregon’s landscapes.
McCollum Heritage 91, established in 2020 by Elise and CJ McCollum, is rooted in the couple’s passion for wine, community, and legacy. With 56 acres of estate vineyards in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, their sustainably farmed Pinot Noir and Chardonnay reflect both place and purpose. Guided by winemaker Gina Hennen of Adelsheim Vineyard, McCollum Heritage 91 is building a legacy of connection in Oregon’s wine story fueled by Elise and CJ’s down-to-earth and genuinely kind approach to wine and community.
“One of the best parts of the Studio is how much energy comes from having new winemakers step in—we all get to trade ideas, see their process up close, and talk philosophy,” said Anthony King, General Manager at The Carlton Winemakers Studio. “Having people like Anna, Michael, and Gina—who are among the most respected in the Willamette Valley—makes the whole place better. That same energy translates into the tasting room when visitors get to interact with the wines and meet the vintners who make The Studio so dynamic.”
Visitors to The Carlton Winemakers Studio can experience this dynamic winemaking community firsthand. Located in the heart of the Willamette Valley, The Studio offers an ever-changing tasting menu featuring multiple producers. Guests have the rare opportunity to explore a spectrum of styles, varietals, and philosophies — all while learning the stories behind the wines from the people who craft them. No reservations are required at The Studio’s tasting room, which is open 11am-5pm daily.
